Department of Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a diverse and essential branch of engineering focused on designing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure that shapes modern society. From buildings and roads to bridges, water systems, and airports, civil engineers are responsible for the planning, construction, and maintenance of the structures and systems that form the backbone of our communities. Civil engineering includes several specialized fields:

Structural Engineering: Focuses on designing and analyzing buildings, bridges, towers, and other structures to ensure their strength, stability, and durability.

Transportation Engineering: Involves planning, designing, and improving transportation systems, such as roads, railways, airports, and ports, to ensure safe, efficient movement of people and goods.

Geotechnical Engineering: Concerned with understanding soil and rock mechanics to ensure stable foundations for structures. Geotechnical engineers assess site conditions, evaluate risks like landslides, and design earthworks, foundations, and retaining structures.

Environmental Engineering: Dedicated to improving and protecting the environment through sustainable practices, pollution control, and the design of water and waste management systems.

Water Resources Engineering: Focuses on managing and designing systems for water supply, flood control, drainage, irrigation, and wastewater treatment to ensure a sustainable and safe water supply for communities.

Construction Engineering: Involves the planning, management, and execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specified standards.

OUR VISION

“To evolve as a centre of academic excellence and advanced research in Civil engineering and related areas.”
